Autumn Playlist

I recently updated my Spotify playlists with all my favourite tracks; both new and old. Here are some of the newest songs I've been loving this Autumn:

What Went Down - Foals

After seeing their surprise set at Leeds Festival, I was left asking myself why I'd never paid much attention to Foals before. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen, they blew my mind! They recently released a new album called 'What Went Down' and the title track is definitely my favourite live and on record. I recommend that you listen to their album and watch their performance on 'Later... With Jools Holland' from a few weeks ago as this shows just how amazing they are when performing live.

Watch 'What Went Down' Here

Watch 'Mountain At My Gates' Here

Excuse Me , Drawing Pins, Hostage - Nothing But Thieves

Last week I got to see Nothing But Thieves live for the 6th time and I swear that they get better each time I see them. Their self-titled debut album was released on 16th October and these tracks are just a few of my favourites, there is not one song on this record I dislike! They played all three of these songs in their set last week, and they sound just as incredible live as they do on the album. I had heard Hostage live a few times before, but the studio version gives me chills every time I hear it, and new tracks 'Excuse Me' and 'Drawing Pins' are definitely my favourites lyrically.

Sorry - Justin Bieber

My best friend told me to listen to this after I admitted that I liked 'What Do You Mean?'. I have never been a JB fan but I'll admit that his latest songs are such jams and this is definitely my favourite out of his recent releases.

Bros, You're A Germ, The Wonderwhy (Hidden Track) - Wolf Alice

After hearing their debut album 'My Love Is Cool' and their set at Leeds Festival, I quickly became a fan of Wolf Alice. They are such a great live band and their record is by far one of my favourites of 2015. These are my personal top 3 tracks off this album however again, like Nothing But Thieves' album, it would be hard to choose a song I don't like. Their performance on last weeks episode of 'Later... With Jools Holland' (Watch Here) confirmed why I bought tickets to see them again in March of next year as Ellie's voice is incredible.

Real, Foundation - Years & Years

I have became a fan since they released their album 'Communion' back in June and I was lucky enough to get tickets to see them in April next year on their 2016 tour. These two are my current favourites of the album but it was hard to pick!

Love Me - The 1975

I still love The 1975's self-titled debut album as much now as I did when it was released back in 2013, so when I heard they were releasing a new album, excitement didn't cover it. As the band's image has changed significantly in the lead up to next February's new album, I didn't know what to expect from this new single, but I loved it on first listen and have had it on repeat ever since!

Young Guns and Nothing But Thieves Review

(From @NBThieves Twitter)
Last Friday, 5th June I went to see my favourite band, Nothing But Thieves supporting Young Guns on their current UK tour at Manchester Academy 2. They had a short set of only 6 songs, however despite this they still put on an amazing show as always. They definitely deserve to have a longer set than this and I hope that they do another headlining tour this year so that I can see them perform some of my other favourite songs of theirs such as Hanging and Emergency live again soon.

Young Guns followed as the headlining act and they also put on an impressive show. Gustav, the lead singer gave the entire set his all and really got the crowd involved in singing along which made the atmosphere of the gig great.

I was able to get some more NBT merch and bought a t-shirt with the artwork from 'Itch', their latest single on. After the show, I met Conor, the lead singer of NBT for the second time who was so lovely and I got a picture with him too.

I really recommend that you go and see both of these bands live as they both put on such a great show and I desperately hope that NBT will tour alone again soon! :-)

Here are some of my favourite songs by NBT and Young Guns:

Itch - Nothing But Thieves:

Emergency - Nothing But Thieves:

I Want Out - Young Guns:

Speaking In Tongues - Young Guns:

Who have you seen live recently?

Twin Atlantic Review

First of all, sorry for the lack of posts, I'm currently in the middle of sitting my GCSEs!
Two weeks ago, I was lucky enough to see one of my favourite bands live for the second time, Twin Atlantic. I received tickets from my friend for my birthday back in January and I had been counting the days ever since until I finally saw them on Tuesday 5th May at the Albert Hall in Manchester. I saw this band back in October on their last UK tour and I thought they were amazing as they put on such a great show. After seeing them for the first time, I knew that I had to see them again and I will be eternally grateful to my friend for giving me the opportunity to see them again!

The show opened with one of my favourite songs of theirs, 'Make a beast of myself' and from that very moment, I knew it was going to be another amazing show. They played all of their best known songs, some from their newest album 'Great Divide', some older ones from their last album 'Free' and even some from their first album 'Vivarium'. Closing their fantastic set list was 'Heart and Soul' which left me wishing they would do the whole show again - it was truly one of the best gigs I've ever been to!

The band have grown to be huge over the last year and this tour proved that. The band were playing venues that held thousands such as the Brixton Academy in London and the SSE Hydro in their home town of Glasgow. I really hope that this band only continue to grow as they are honestly one of the best rock bands around at the moment!

Here are some of my favourite songs of theirs:

Heart and Soul:

Make A Beast Of Myself:

Crash Land (Live at T in The Park 2013)

What is light? Where is laughter?

Essie Master Plan - Spring/Summer Nails

In the transition from winter to spring, I've been searching Boots and Superdrug for the perfect nail colour. Usually in spring, I would choose pastel colours like baby blue or lilac, but after testing several pastel shades that I already own, I have realised that I have become very tired of them. However when I came across Essie's 'Master Plan' all my problems were solved. It is a perfect muted grey shade that goes so well with every outfit and any jewellery. One of my issues with pastel coloured nails is that I think they look odd with clothes that don't match, and you can't always dress accordingly to your nails!
I like to do a little manicure when I do them as I often bite them and so they need to be looked after. Firstly, I file my nails using this Soap & Glory Nail File that I received in their 'Nail Call' giftset at Christmas. (From here: http://www.soapandglory.com/christmas-gift-guide/nail-call.php) I then buff my nails using a Nails Inc buffer that was also from a gift set.

Once my nails are shaped, I apply Soap & Glory's Scrub + Happiness Dry Hand Smoothing Scrub which was also part of the Nail Call gift set, followed by Ciate's 'Love Me Oil' as my cuticles are quite damaged. (Available here: http://www.lookfantastic.com/ciate-love-me-oil-almond-cuticle-oil/10888414.html)

After this, I apply one coat of Essie's Master Plan (Available here: http://www.essie.co.uk/Colours/grays/master-plan.aspx), and then a top layer of Rimmel 60 Second Clear Nail Polish (Available here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rimmel-Seconds-Nail-Polish-Clear/dp/B0047XANXU) to ensure that my nails don't chip.

I then finish my nail routine using Body Shop's Almond Hand & Nail Cream (Available here: http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/shop-by-range/almond/almond-hand-nail-cream.aspx) which makes my hands much softer and smells divine too.

What's your favourite nail shade this spring?

Spring Playlist

Over the past few months, I've been updating my playlists with some of my favourite songs and new artists that I have come across too. Here are my current favourite tracks this spring:

Pacifier - Catfish and The Bottlemen

Catfish are such a great band, and I'm slightly annoyed that I hadn't listened to them that much until now. Their album has been played repeatedly by me over the last couple of months and Pacifier is definitely my favourite from 'The Balcony'.

Itch (Single Version) - Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves are one of my favourite bands by far, and I love the new version of Itch and the artwork. I am beyond excited for their album to come out in October!

Wake Up Call - Nothing But Thieves

I have loved this song ever since I heard Nothing But Thieves for the first time, but recently I have found myself obsessing over it all over again.

Kiteers - Fatherson and Mine for Me - Fatherson

I discovered Fatherson a few months ago but it's only recently that I have properly started to listen to them. I have become so obsessed with their album 'I am an island' and these are just two of my favourites.

Loose Change - Royal Blood

I've been a fan of royal blood for several months now and I still cannot get enough of their album. Loose Change has been on repeat constantly at the moment!

Nothing But Thieves Review

I mentioned this band in one of my last posts, and I think its safe to say that they are one my favourite bands at the moment. I was lucky enough to see them again last night (the second time in a fortnight, whoop!), and I even had a picture afterwards with Conor, the lead singer who was lovely. They are undoubtedly one of the best acts I have seen live, as they sound even better live than recorded and Conor's vocals are always stunning.

If you haven't heard this band already, I really recommend that you give them a listen! They are releasing their first album this spring which I am so excited about, but their released EP is very impressive. I really hope that this band does well, they genuinely deserve it.
